ARE THOSE MOUSTACHE EARRINGS

Heck yes! There’s apparently some weird mustache trend going on and Claire’s has capitalized on it. Awesome for us (adults), creepy for the actual customer base of Claire’s (tweens). They had tons of necklaces, keychains, earrings, etc…

Edit: some of it is on their website.  I was particularly intrigued by the mustaches with their own mustaches and the bottled mustaches.

WHAT. ARE YOU GETTING THIS? I’M JEALOUS. (don’t tell my computer.)

I … I … mentioned to my Mom that my Macbook is slowing down (it really is, I can hardly stream video without it spazzing out) and my stepdad called and started talking to me about computers today. So, without being in school I don’t really need a laptop. This could also double as a TV screen since I stream/download almost everything anyway. I’m in awe and also freaking out.

i should set food goals! what are yours based on?

Weight Watchers! Every food has a point value based on carbs, fat, fiber and protein. For example, 1oz of lean chicken breast is 1 point. 1 cup of rice/pasta is 5 points. I get 26 points a day. Simple, works like a charm.

nautics replied to your post: Late at night I get cravings for salty snacks.

i like how you post this just as i’m thinking about my huge salty snacks craving and how i want to go get some chips. what is self control.

Self control is remembering that I stayed on goal (!) for food today. That I ate one giant meal of Indian food yesterday and then did the salty chips thing during my late-night library shift and felt awful. Don’t do it!!!!! Tea/water and to be with ye.

just curious, what do you understand the purpose of literature review to be?

Now I see it as a conversation of the merits and drawbacks of previous scholarship, and how previous scholarship relates to the work that I’m doing, or how I am adding to it. This page out of Writing Your Journal Article in 12 Weeks (p. 155)really, really helped. I guess up until this point I was just saying WHAT was out there and not WHY it is important.

nautics replied to your post: Decision of the day:

ahh you’re so nice! but accordion! I wish I could play one, and ukulele! i should get on that.

Accordion takes COMMITMENT. The hardest things: not being able to see your left hand (needing to memorize all the buttons by feel) and multi-tasking!

Ukulele is much easier! I’m going to see if my parents want dorky colored ukes (if so we’ll go with this: http://bernunzio.com/product/makala-mk-sd-15047/) or unfinished wood (http://bernunzio.com/product/kala-mk-s-15066/). I was just thinking what a big deal it is in my thesis that playing ukulele makes people so happy, and lets them participate in music even if they haven’t been able to before. So why not my parents? (Mom especially. My stepdad is already a great guitar player).
