alltreesareoaks asked: re: happythankyoumoreplease, how did this even get to be a movie? the title, first off. i can only imagine every single person he consulted being like "oh no, you couldn't possibly" and him trying to hopelessly defend it for some reason unknown to everyone except him. also how he KIDNAPPED a child and no one really had a problem with it? especially when that singer friend of his found out and was gonna leave and then was like JK. also the song she sings at the end possibly is the worst of it all
I agree about the title. I love that he wrote his character as a ‘hip, young writer’ because he would. I have no idea how kidnapping is acceptable, and that one character was just named “Mississippi.” I got to the part where he was drunk and convinced her to move in for three days, and had to shut it off. SO SO BAD. I’m just glad I didn’t go see it at the theater last summer. That would’ve been a big mistake.
