Why did I decide to fill in the stick?  The tutorial just had a back stitched outline of the stick.  Why do I make things difficult for myself?
The stick is taking forever on this, but I’m almost done.  Just two more branches.  Then the grass and the firefly wings and I can put in the LEDs and the battery and be done!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m making this for one of my nephews, and I have a frog and firefly for the other one that I plan to make.  I can’t wait to finish this because I have a cross stitch creation I’m dying to start.

There’s a tune that you’ve probably heard throughout your life. It’s nine notes long, and it’s almost always used to signal that something vaguely Asian is happening or is about to happen.

You know what I’m talking about. The tune’s most prominent role is probably in that 1974 song, “Kung Fu Fighting.” It comes in right as Carl Douglas is singing that anthemic “Oh-hoh-hoh-hoah.”

The tune is ubiquitous. And like many things that are just in the air, few ever ask where it came from. But we did.

kimgeecomics:

it started as an idea between two coworkers, then became a modest little kickstarter, which turned into a book deal with a small publisher, and two years later is finally a real live comic.
our book, build your own website, officially comes out this saturday wherever books are sold (though amazon won’t get it for another week), and we’re having a book party this friday in manhattan.
this book wouldn’t exist without the success of kim gee comics, and i’d love if readers could come out, get some free wine, and take a first look at it with us. it’s a massive project that i’m both insanely proud of and a little insecure about, and i’m so glad it’s finally here. come celebrate with us!
